I found out yesterday that Jeff has recruitment letters from Yale, Duke, Colorado State and University of Penn. Jeff is a lineman for Olathe North High School and will be a senior next year. He is a great kid and I am proud to call him a friend. I haven’t seen him play football for a few years – I’d better get out and see a game this year so i can say i saw him when …

I went to the Auto Show yesterday. Lots of neat cars! This is the one I think I liked best – of the ones that I might buy.. Of course my Explorer only has 207,887 miles – so I still have a long time to think about what car to get.

what do you think?

Silent Joe and 5 1/2 hours in the ER

Wednesday, March 1st, 2006

OK, I haven’t posted for a long time.  Mainly because I don’t really have anything much going on.  I did just get back from a 3 days trip to Phoenix. I had to leave KC at 8:30 to get there in time for my 5:00 meeting  – not much of a flight choice to PHX from MCI.

Tuesday my friend Linda stood up from the lunch and caught her shoe some how and sprained her ankle.  Bill Budroe and I took her to the ER.  The total experience was about 5 1`/2 hours of mostly waiting.  The Xrays were inconclusive but the NP who reviewed them thinks she has a hairline fracture but they won’t be able to tell for sure until Monday when the swelling goes down.  So I missed most of the meeting I went to attend.  I talked to her today and she is still in a lot of pain.

When I was in Lake of the Ozarks last week I went to the outlet mall and bought the book Silent Joe by T. Jefferson Parker.  It was published in 2001, somehow I’d missed it.  It’s the third T. Jefferson Parker book I’ve read this year.  Actually I have about 20 pages left to read until I’m done – should find time to finish it tomorrow before I leave for Muskogee, OK.  Parker is a writer of Southern California (Orange County / San Diego county) Noir Mysteries.   Silent Joe is such an interesting character, I wish he would put him in another book. Parker is one of my top ten writers. Now that I’ve put this long post up I feel I’ve done my duty.  Is anyone still looking at my site or have i let everyone down so much that no ones checks anymore?
