We all know (or at least we think we know) that Fox News slants the news as much as they can in favor of President Bush. I think you might be interested in this chart that shows the polling results from all of the various news agencies. This example holds true to what I’ve seen before. Fox has a way of presenting the numbers that make it appear that President Bush is doing better in the opinion of Americans than the rest of the pollsters. I know there is a margin of error or +/- 3% in most national polls and it may be just a coincidence that Fox is always on the high side for Bush, however, watching their news programs enough has convinced me that they have a crew of people whose job is to shape the news to favor the right wing.
Thoughts?
Why do watch Fox at all?
Fox News is the best. They have Brit Hume, Bill O’Reilly, Sean “Snuffy” Hannity, and Neil Cavuto! How can you hate on Fox News?
Fox News: The News that bites back!
i’m not “haten on em” – just pointing out the facts. Do you think any of the team you named is fair and balanced?
Well, maybe Brit Hume. I always liked him on ABC.
I remember the first day I really watched FoxNews, though. They had just added it to the cable lineup at GU and it was April 20, 1999. Columbine. I must’ve watched it for six straight hours.
Whether or not they’re truly fair and balanced, I think they have their place in the media. If the left gets CNN, MSNBC, NBC, ABC, and CBS, and the right gets FoxNews, I think that’s more than fair for the left. Now, I usually don’t put much stock into Bill O’Reilly’s yammerings, but he at least makes you THINK about what some people are really saying and why they’re saying it. I don’t think he’s correct 100% of the time, but I think that a country with a healthy discourse is a safe country to live in.
Besides, it’s only fair that Hanoi Jane’s ex-husband has a little competition in the media wars
