“The secret of getting ahead is getting started.
The secret of getting started is breaking
your complex overwhelming
tasks into small manageable tasks,
and then starting on the first one.”
Mark Twain

Quote of the Day – August 30 (Wacky Wednesday)

In the right light, at the right time, everything is extraordinary. – Aaron Rose

We grow great by dreams. All big men are dreamers. They see things in the soft haze of a spring day or in the red fire of a long winter’s evening. Some of us let these great dreams die, but others nourish and protect them; nurse them through bad days till they bring them to the sunshine and light which comes always to those who sincerely hope that their dreams will come true. – Woodrow Wilson (1856 – 1924 I tore myself away from the safe comfort of certainties through my love for the truth; and truth rewarded me. – Simone de Beauvoir

I paint my own reality. The only thing I know is that I paint because I need to, and I paint whatever passes through my head without any other consideration. – Frida Kahlo (1907 – 1954)

Painting is just another way of keeping a diary. – Pablo Picasso (1881 – 1973)

The Bet – I’m up by 16!!

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

For those of you who have followed the bet this season, I like to say thank you for your support. We are entering what is traditionally called the “Dog Days of Summer” by most baseball fans. In our 24 season history of the bet it is usually very clear who will win once the Dog Day of Summer start. However, this season seems to be in the pattern of last season with wild swings and unexpected results. On Draft day both Jerry and I agreed that Florida was the worst team in baseball. Fortunately Jerry had first pick and he chose them as one of his “losers”. Florida is in the Wild Card race in the National League and has just finished winning 10 in a row.

I think I can speak for Jerry when I say the one this this bet has taught us over the past 24 seasons is that we really don’t know that much about baseball.

Nevertheless, I will enjoy my dinner in Sante Fe.

UPDATE AND Interesting not of the day: Kansas City has won nine of the last 13 games against first- and second-place teams!

William Bolith

Your Vote Doesn’t Count – But Vote Anyways!

Thursday, August 24th, 2006

My friend Jerry, you remember him, the guy who loses the baseball bet to me almost every year, is desolving his law practice and establishing a new practice near his home. One of the small decissions he needs to make is the address for his webpage. He has narrowed it down to 2 choices and he gave June and me a vote last night and we were of no help because we cancelled each others votes. I don’t know if he will count your vote, but let us know which of the following two URLs you like the best:

www.jbslawoffice,com

or

www.jbslawbiz.com

thanks for your help
