The Road Not Taken

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood, And sorry I could not travel both And be one traveller, long I stood And looked down one as far as I could To where it bent in the undergrowth; Then took the other, as just as fair, And having perhaps the better claim, Because it was grassy and wanted wear; Though as for that the passing there Had worn them really about the same,

And both that morning equally lay In leaves no step had trodden black. Oh, I kept the first for another day! Yet knowing how way leads on to way, I doubted if I should ever come back.

I shall be telling this with a sigh Somewhere ages and ages hence: Two roads diverged in a wood, and I– I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference

Oregon Thermal Jacket

Oregon Thermal Jacket Originally uploaded by _G2.

When we were in Oregon last month Rachel convinced June that she would enjoy this thermal jacket on walks on cool Kansas mornings. She was right! This morning June cut off the tags and donned here new jacket and we walked to McDonald’s for breakfast. She enjoyed every step of the way, except her hand were a little cold. If June had a blog she would be thanking Rachel for the good advice. I think it’s a little too much to expect June to have a blog. It’s enough that she now has email. I wore my new Royals hoodie to Micky D’s this morning and found myself a little warm on the way back. Could have been because I was drinking coffee?

Rainy Day
Originally uploaded by _G2.

The rain has hung the leaves with tears and the sky has developed a new shade of gray. The creek is calling out with a gentle wispier of protest as the rain works it way west past our backyard. It’s a perfect 55 degrees right now and i was forced to take a break from work and take this photo and post my thoughts. Such as they are.

Saturday was my first time to work on a Habitat project. I came home with very sore muscles but a very satisfied feeling in my “soul”. There were only eight of us who went but we accomplished a lot.

It’s Official

The Bet is over for another season.  Jerry and I have had this ongoing bet for 24 seasons now, I think I’ve won about 18 or 19 times.  Modesty requires that I not claim I’ve won so many more times than Jerry because of superior baseball knowledge.  I’ll let you decide the reason.

I have so many people to thank, first I need to thank Jerry for his continued willingness to participate in the bet, I’d also like to thank Travis for developing the bet website that has made tracking the results so 21st century and finally I’d like to thank all of you (assuming anyone had read this far) for putting up with my posting about the bet this season.

“They played hard the whole time.  The effort was there all along. I’m just happy that these three days we could win.”
