Gunner Meets Gunner!!

We meet the Van Fleets for dinner on the Plaza last night – - and we also meet Gunner the dog! Gunner (the dog) just might be the smartest and best looking dog I’ve ever meet.

A couple of weeks ago I decided i’d create an mp3 disc with “The Essential 100″ songs. As i was thinking about this task i put some rules into place. First rule: no more than 2 songs from any one group or artist. Second rule: No more than 10 groups and artists that have 2 songs. I also clarified rule number one with the following: An individual artist who is also in a group is eligible to be included both as in the group and as a solo – or as a member of numerous groups.

The task was much harder than i anticipated. I started by putting songs in my file without regard to number. I ended up with about 150 nominations (I was the only person nominating) and after a week of hard work I was able to get it down to 100.

My plan was than to arrange the songs with the very hard edge at the top of the list and ending with the mellow songs at the end. I gave June a draft disc to listen to, the one I gave her had 135 songs. When she found out that 108 on the list was “Danny’s Song” by Kenny Loggins she threw a fit. Her point was that it should be number one. I tried to explain that the songs weren’t in order – (it’s hard enough to widdle my list to 100 – and would be impossible to put them in a rank order that would satisfy me) but she wouldn’t listen to my explanation. So now my list starts with Danny’s Song and is followed up with “Rocky Mountain Way” by Joe Walsh and really rocks after that.

There is no point to this post, however, if you’d like a mp3 disc with my essential 100 songs, let me know and i’ll get it to you.

it seems that i’ve stopped my march to victory in the upper teens. Today i’m 18 behind and my teams don’t seem to be able to get me any closer than 15. I’m not giving up, and I don’t know why i’m not, all indications are that I should give up. I guess it’s just Jerry’s track record that gives me hope. There is about 6 weeks left in the season, i need to gain 3 + points a weeks – it could be done. Conclusion – It could be done.
