Groundhog Day decorating is done!
Tuesday, January 29th, 2008As many of the local readers of bbb know Groundhog Day is a big event at the Johnson household. In some ways it rivals Christmas. One of the differences is that June is in charge of Christmas decorating and I’m in charge of GHD decorating.
Well I’m happy to report that I’m done. My sister Carol sent us this wonderful GHD decoration that is now on our mantel in a place of honor! It looks very festive around here. It’s nice to have this pick-me-up after taking down the Christmas decorations.
thanks Carol for the great groundhog family.

Important Announcement! The winner of brad’s bobeche blog’s unannounced contest announced!
Saturday, January 26th, 2008As some of you may remember, on January 1st of this year it slipped out that we here at brad’s bobeche blog are running an unannounced contest. I know many of you have been holding your breath wondering who would/could win such a prestigious contest. Hold your breath no more!
It is our pleasure here at bbb to announce the winner of our unannounced contest (Please do your own drum roll while you read this next line.) Envelope please … “and the winner is, John Kostura!” Congratulations to John. As a result of winning this illustrious contest John’s biography will be featured in the following paragraphs.
John Kostura was born in California (I need to check this fact, we’re pretty sure it’s right – at least as sure as I am with anything I post here at bbb.) He is know for his perspicacity, sagacity and wisdom. He is know for this because he was smart enough to marry the founder of Brad’s Bobeche Blog’s sister. That’s very wise. John is a great guitar player (think of a country and western Brian Tubbesing.) He’s a chemist and he works for a company that needs chemicals mixed, so that’s good.
John is about 6′4″ tall, owns 2 cats, i can’t remember their names (but I’m sure my sister will put the names in a comment for those of you who really need to know. He owns both a Taylor and Dabro guitar, he gave me my Martin guitar and likes to wear cowboy boots. He’s not a big sports fan but he does like to go camping with my sister.
After reading this I’m sure you are saying to yourself, “self, why didn’t I win that contest. I sure would have liked to have my bio on bbb.” I fully understand you feelings, that’s why I was forced to make this an unannounced contest. John won the contest by being the first person this year to submit a quote for the quote of the day feature. (Not counting June, I decided it would have looked bad to let her be the winner, so i was forced to disqualify her. Despite the fact she has submitted numerous quotes. I also had to disqualify my friend Mike Porterfield, although he gave me a quote for the blog, he doesn’t read the bbb so it would be useless to name him the winner.) The quote John submitted will be featured on February – wait for it – 24, 2008.
You may remember that the first winner of an unannounced contest was my brother-in-law Orval. I hope you don’t think there is any nepotism in the contests, it’s just that there aren’t many people who read bbb, so the chances of a brother-in-law winning are about 40%. Neither my brother Glennn or my brotehr-in-law Greg read bbb and m brother-in-law Fred reads it about 3 times a year (when things are really slow over at woot.)
