The Great Debaters
Sunday, January 20th, 2008We went to the movies tonight with Scott and Chelsea and saw “The Great Debaters.” What a fabulous movie!! It’s the true story of a debate team and it’s coach (Denzel Washington) from a small African American college in the Marshall Texas and their fight against the social norms of 1935 America as they become an elite debate team. It’s part “Dead Poet’s Society”,part “The Emperors Club”, part “To Kill a Mocking Bird”, but mostly it’s “The Great Debaters.”
It’s a wonderfully uplifting story and I give it 4 1/2 Groundhogs!
