We went over to the Flinn’s for dinner last night with Dave and Jan, here is photo. And here’s the long story regarding our trip. a couple of months ago dave was worrying about me, being out of work and all and decided to do something to cheer me up, so he called and set up a friday night dinner. when they picked us up he told us it was a “mystery dinner” and he wasnt’ telling us were we were going, but he gave us a hint, the restaurant was rated as one of the ten best in it’s category and the category had 1500 restaurants in it. After a long drive and a lot of bad guesses we arrived at the Paloa Airport to eat at “We Be Smokin, BBQ” we had a great night and we started a new tradition. L
ast night was June’s turn to be in charge of the “mystery” all she told us after we picked up the Magees was that it was a small location and very exclusive and hard to get into. she also said it was famous for the Lasagna, well after a lot of wrong guesses we arrived at the Flinns, and June had prepared her famous Lasagna with all the fixens, I’d figured out was was going on before we left home because she was busy making dinner and all, but we had a good time. Chuck says his cancer isn’t really bothering him with pain, he seems to have a good attitude. One of the stories they told us was that they met on a blind date, Chuck says Edie was “blind.”
I just got back from a week in California for company meetings. One interesting thing my friend Bill Budroe told me is that he has a new girlfriend and she googled him the only reference that came up was an entry on my blog from 2 years ago.
I have a request from all of my readers who have blogs (Jen please let Ben know); the request is simple, please add the name Bill Budroe to your next post. Just in case this girlfriend googles him again – (or if she doesn’t last) I think it would be nice to have more than one entry for Bill on the World Wide Web.
As a way to reward you, the author of best blog entry that features the name Bill Budroe will have their bio featured on the bbb with the normal in-depth coverage associated with this blog.
PLEASE NOTE: IF YOU HAVE ALREADY WON, YOU CAN WIN AGAIN!!!!!!! We might not even repeat your bio but make up a whole new one!!!!!
as always thanks.
As many of the remaining loyal readers of the bbb (or b3) know Mr. Shane Adams was determined to be the winner of the April Movie Trivia Contest. As part of that reward for winning we are featuring the following comprehensive biography.
Shane was born on December 23rd. We are not sure of the year but our best guess places the year in the late 1970’s. Although he could easily pass for someone born in 1980, we are pretty sure he was born in the 70’s because he is about the same age as my nephew Aaron and I think AJ was born in the 70’s maybe 76 or 77? Shane is the quintessential metro-sexual male (see photo below). We don’t really know what that means but we read it on his blog and think it might be true.
One of his many fine qualities is that he is ebulliently enthusiastic regarding life and the promises it presents. He rates most movies with 4 stars. He has a tattoo on one of his legs (could be the right, but if it’s not the right it’s the left for sure!). We think the tattoo may be one word like “courage†or “perseverance†or maybe it’s a drawing of a parrot pushing a shopping cart through Best Buy getting some cool stuff. (Actually the reason this biography is delayed is we were trying to get a glimpse of the tattoo so we could be perfectly accurate, but after my staff got a look it, there was a disagreement, so we decided to go to press without a final answer on this one small bit of information.)
Shane likes to wear hats (again, see photo); this might be part of the metro-sexual male thing. He also loves a good Chipolte Burrito. I guess it’s redundant to say a good Chipolte Burrito, because by definition all Chipolte Burritos are good, most are great. He is the creator of the Olathe Community of Christ webpage and is in charge of updating it.
Shane is married to the lovely and talented Alli. If she ever wins a monthly contest on the bbb we will feature her biography. Let me tell you this much, it will be a barnburner.
any questions?
Yes! We here at the bbb are proud to announce that the March contest is bigger and better than ever! Our winner could be awarded up to one million dollars. As always the decision of the triple b judges is final. The contest is simple; I’ve purchased a powerball ticket for tonight’s 200 million dollar drawing. If I win I will give one million dollars or one percent of my winnings – which ever is smallest to the reader who submits the best idea(s) for how I should spend my winnings. Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, imagination, inspiration, ingenuity, inventiveness, resourcefulness, honesty, practicality, spelling and vision. (the vision test will only be administered after I’ve won the money because I can’t afford to pay for it unless I win.)
I know that a small few of the bbb readers might be thinking, “you might not win.†Don’t be discourage, if my some bad twist of fate I don’t win tonight I will buy another powerball ticket this month and you will have the same opportunity.
As if winning one million dollars isn’t enough the reader who submits the best idea will also have their bio featured on the bbb and a short profile of how they plan to spend their one million dollars, assuming we win.
Good Luck.
As a side note, we here at the bbb believe we are the only blog that is offering a realistic chance for their readers to win one million dollars. Just consider this a small token of our respect for you the reader.
Also of interest might be an internal discussion we held here at the bbb: we asked ourselves “should we also award one million dollars to past monthly winners?†After a rather complete discussion of all the pros and cons we decided that it would be intellectually dishonest and not within the spirit of the bbb to award past winners the one million dollars. Instead we decided that we will make all past winners eligible to enter to win the March contest, I’m certain they will all feel much better about this than just having one million dollars handed to them.
We have also decided to award the first person to post an idea 3 dollars, assuming I win the powerball this month.
Good luck and good night.
!
The February contest is over and we here at the bbb are proud to announce the winner. Not surprisingly the winner is both a baseball and poetry expert. The winner of our third monthly contest, and to date the most difficult of all the contest held here at the bbb is none other than the multi talented Laura Beckman. As if the prestige of winning the contest isn’t enough Laura will also have her biography featured in this post and be given the opportunity to be a guest columnist at brad’s bobeche blog.
Laura grew up near Powell Gardens, but as far as I know she doesn’t have a green thumb. I have seen here wearing gloves so she may be trying to hide the green thumb, I’m really not sure and this fact isn’t very important for the rest of the biographical post. If there is one most important thing you need to know about Laura, I’m not sure what it is, I’d guess it has to do with her husband Steve and son Reece. Also important is that the fact that all three of them are baseball fans (Bo Sox and Royals) and they are raising Reece as a left hander because the Royals always need left handed relief pitching. Laura has a brother who is in college and plays the guitar, and a sister who is very good at playing one of those fancy instruments that you see in a orchestra, it’s either a stringed instrument or a woodwind, I don’t remember, but I did hear her it play it a few times and she is very good. If I was forced to guess I’d go with oboe or piano, but we here at the triple be don’t guess. Her sister lives in Wisconsin. Laura plays the piano and sings and I think she majored in music, if fact I’m almost positive she did! She is also the owner of the local Kindermusic franchise and she has a standing offer that anytime she needs my help in teaching a class on banging pots together she can count on me. Her mother also plays the piano and I’ve seen Steve sing in the choir, although I’ve never heard him sign a solo so he might not be all that good of a singer; but that doesn’t matter, he is a baseball fan. I have no idea if her father has any musical talent, he looks like he might play the banjo, but again because of the rush to publish this post, I haven’t had time to do any fact checking. Now that we think about it a little more we remember that her father did sing at here wedding, without a banjo! I know this is all very confusing; Laura is a very complicated person. I can’t think of anything else real important about Laura, she has a dog (I think), but I can’t remember the dogs name so maybe she doesn’t have dog. – or maybe she just didn’t pick out a very good name. Maybe it wasn’t a dog but a pair of hamsters named black and white. (If anyone else has any good information on Laura please post it below, thanks.)
Congratulations to Laura Beckman for correctly identifying Travis Johnson as the author of the poem!
As some of you may remember, on January 1st of this year it slipped out that we here at brad’s bobeche blog are running an unannounced contest. I know many of you have been holding your breath wondering who would/could win such a prestigious contest. Hold your breath no more!
It is our pleasure here at bbb to announce the winner of our unannounced contest (Please do your own drum roll while you read this next line.) Envelope please … “and the winner is, John Kostura!” Congratulations to John. As a result of winning this illustrious contest John’s biography will be featured in the following paragraphs.
John Kostura was born in California (I need to check this fact, we’re pretty sure it’s right – at least as sure as I am with anything I post here at bbb.) He is know for his perspicacity, sagacity and wisdom. He is know for this because he was smart enough to marry the founder of Brad’s Bobeche Blog’s sister. That’s very wise. John is a great guitar player (think of a country and western Brian Tubbesing.) He’s a chemist and he works for a company that needs chemicals mixed, so that’s good.
John is about 6′4″ tall, owns 2 cats, i can’t remember their names (but I’m sure my sister will put the names in a comment for those of you who really need to know. He owns both a Taylor and Dabro guitar, he gave me my Martin guitar and likes to wear cowboy boots. He’s not a big sports fan but he does like to go camping with my sister.
After reading this I’m sure you are saying to yourself, “self, why didn’t I win that contest. I sure would have liked to have my bio on bbb.” I fully understand you feelings, that’s why I was forced to make this an unannounced contest. John won the contest by being the first person this year to submit a quote for the quote of the day feature. (Not counting June, I decided it would have looked bad to let her be the winner, so i was forced to disqualify her. Despite the fact she has submitted numerous quotes. I also had to disqualify my friend Mike Porterfield, although he gave me a quote for the blog, he doesn’t read the bbb so it would be useless to name him the winner.) The quote John submitted will be featured on February – wait for it – 24, 2008.
You may remember that the first winner of an unannounced contest was my brother-in-law Orval. I hope you don’t think there is any nepotism in the contests, it’s just that there aren’t many people who read bbb, so the chances of a brother-in-law winning are about 40%. Neither my brother Glennn or my brotehr-in-law Greg read bbb and m brother-in-law Fred reads it about 3 times a year (when things are really slow over at woot.)
Congratulations to Orval Fisher the winner of the first ever “Who can be first to respond to a post on brad’s bobeche blog” As the winner he will have his biography featured on this blog, if fact in this very post!! It doesn’t get any better than this! At least for Orval it doesn’t.
Orval was born in Canada in 1952. He may have lived in an igloo before moving to the United States some time in the mid 1950s. The only really significant thing to happen in his life as a boy was the birth of his younger sister, June. June is a wonderful person, we wish we could say the same thing about Orval. Of course we could, but the readers of brad’s bobeche blog have come to expect total honesty in these postings. In that spirit i well write that Orval is a wonderful person too and he has the bluest eyes.
While in college Orval married Susan Barker. We are still trying to figure out how he pulled that off. He taught school for a few years and worked as a minister for about 25 years. Somewhere in that time frame he and susan had a beautiful daughter, Nicole. Nicole is now a lawyer.
Orval is a Denver Broncos fan. He also has a sister named Jeanne and a brother named Fred. He shaved off his cheesy mustache about 3 years ago, not long after he had his heart attack. the two may be related.
Once again, Congratulations to Orval Fisher
