A winner is finally announced!!!
Friday, April 4th, 2008After much discussion, the staff here at the triple b have picked a winner for the March contest. It very sad to for us to say we aren’t going to be able to award the million dollars we’d hoped. Although we did buy 2 – yes 2- powerball tickets we didn’t have the winning numbers on either of them! I think the drawing might be fixed. The decision for a winner came down to 2 finalist, (do you find it odd that it’s the same number of tickets we bought?), Some of the votes were for Ben and his idea of supporting a pig farm so we would never have to send a family member away again – great idea. However, we are pleased to announce for the first time we have a two time winner. Our January winner John Kostura has accomplished what many said was impossible, he has won the bbb monthly contest for a second time.

It should be pointed out that my sister is either not very good a math or doesn’t understand much about the American tax system and the fact that winners of the lotto have to pay taxes – or both.
this puts us in an odd position, we can’t award the million dollars because we didn’t win powerball and we’ve already posted a complete biography of John. We spent the last 3 days rereading our original biography to see if we missed anything. We don’t think so. Click on this link to read our bio and see if you can come up with anything.
if you find something, or know any additional information about John, please post it in the comment section.
The March Triple B Contest is Afoot!! (The Winner Could be awarded up to One Million Dollars)
Saturday, March 8th, 2008Yes! We here at the bbb are proud to announce that the March contest is bigger and better than ever! Our winner could be awarded up to one million dollars. As always the decision of the triple b judges is final. The contest is simple; I’ve purchased a powerball ticket for tonight’s 200 million dollar drawing. If I win I will give one million dollars or one percent of my winnings – which ever is smallest to the reader who submits the best idea(s) for how I should spend my winnings. Entries will be judged on originality, creativity, imagination, inspiration, ingenuity, inventiveness, resourcefulness, honesty, practicality, spelling and vision. (the vision test will only be administered after I’ve won the money because I can’t afford to pay for it unless I win.)
I know that a small few of the bbb readers might be thinking, “you might not win.†Don’t be discourage, if my some bad twist of fate I don’t win tonight I will buy another powerball ticket this month and you will have the same opportunity.
As if winning one million dollars isn’t enough the reader who submits the best idea will also have their bio featured on the bbb and a short profile of how they plan to spend their one million dollars, assuming we win.
Good Luck.
As a side note, we here at the bbb believe we are the only blog that is offering a realistic chance for their readers to win one million dollars. Just consider this a small token of our respect for you the reader.
Also of interest might be an internal discussion we held here at the bbb: we asked ourselves “should we also award one million dollars to past monthly winners?†After a rather complete discussion of all the pros and cons we decided that it would be intellectually dishonest and not within the spirit of the bbb to award past winners the one million dollars. Instead we decided that we will make all past winners eligible to enter to win the March contest, I’m certain they will all feel much better about this than just having one million dollars handed to them.
We have also decided to award the first person to post an idea 3 dollars, assuming I win the powerball this month.
Good luck and good night.
We have a winner!
Saturday, March 1st, 2008!
The February contest is over and we here at the bbb are proud to announce the winner. Not surprisingly the winner is both a baseball and poetry expert. The winner of our third monthly contest, and to date the most difficult of all the contest held here at the bbb is none other than the multi talented Laura Beckman. As if the prestige of winning the contest isn’t enough Laura will also have her biography featured in this post and be given the opportunity to be a guest columnist at brad’s bobeche blog.
Laura grew up near Powell Gardens, but as far as I know she doesn’t have a green thumb. I have seen here wearing gloves so she may be trying to hide the green thumb, I’m really not sure and this fact isn’t very important for the rest of the biographical post. If there is one most important thing you need to know about Laura, I’m not sure what it is, I’d guess it has to do with her husband Steve and son Reece. Also important is that the fact that all three of them are baseball fans (Bo Sox and Royals) and they are raising Reece as a left hander because the Royals always need left handed relief pitching. Laura has a brother who is in college and plays the guitar, and a sister who is very good at playing one of those fancy instruments that you see in a orchestra, it’s either a stringed instrument or a woodwind, I don’t remember, but I did hear her it play it a few times and she is very good. If I was forced to guess I’d go with oboe or piano, but we here at the triple be don’t guess. Her sister lives in Wisconsin. Laura plays the piano and sings and I think she majored in music, if fact I’m almost positive she did! She is also the owner of the local Kindermusic franchise and she has a standing offer that anytime she needs my help in teaching a class on banging pots together she can count on me. Her mother also plays the piano and I’ve seen Steve sing in the choir, although I’ve never heard him sign a solo so he might not be all that good of a singer; but that doesn’t matter, he is a baseball fan. I have no idea if her father has any musical talent, he looks like he might play the banjo, but again because of the rush to publish this post, I haven’t had time to do any fact checking. Now that we think about it a little more we remember that her father did sing at here wedding, without a banjo! I know this is all very confusing; Laura is a very complicated person. I can’t think of anything else real important about Laura, she has a dog (I think), but I can’t remember the dogs name so maybe she doesn’t have dog. – or maybe she just didn’t pick out a very good name. Maybe it wasn’t a dog but a pair of hamsters named black and white. (If anyone else has any good information on Laura please post it below, thanks.)
Congratulations to Laura Beckman for correctly identifying Travis Johnson as the author of the poem!
