Our 12th year…

Fuddruckers

We went to Fuddruckers yesterday to celebrate the beginning of the school year for Adam and I! Everyone else has finished or not begun the long and exciting journey!! (Technically I’m finished but I’m helping children along their journey!) I’m a little bummed that this picture did not turn out better. Last year it was blurry and this year the lighting is bad. Hopefully my Dad or Paul got a good picture. I can’t believe we’ve been doing this for 12 years now!! I can still remember going for the first time and how it cheered me up to be with family. I was sad for Travis and for myself that we had moved and left our friends in TX. Little did I know how great of move it was for our family! I remember the year we heard all about the honeymoon Aaron and Heidi had just been on and the year Gabe wore his “G” sweater that my parents gave him I also remember once when a friend of the Lambles saw Adam and Aaron’s car and stopped bye to say hi. I think we all got ice cream after that, and Travis and Rachel showed off some of their dance moves they had learned in a class! (Am I making that up or did they take dance lessons? That’s how I remember it!) (I could go on and on with memories but I won’t.) Over the years our group has included Mom, Dad, Travis, Rachel, Scott, Aunt Jeanne, Uncle Greg, Jen, Elias, Heidi, Aaron, Paul, Libby, Seth, Adam, Aaron, Amber, Gabe, Liam, Elena and Sadie. What a great group!! We missed the 9 that have moved and the 2 that were sick last night! I look forward to this at the beginning of each school year and always have a great time!

Yesterday Jen and Elias hosted an open house for Scott and I! What an awesome thing for a realtor to do. Elias had to stay home with his sleeping cuties, but Jen was there. Jen brought all kinds of delicious foods, treats and drinks. I made brownies, fruit filled cookies and sugar cookies shaped like houses, pirate ships, pigs and the letter J. I had a wonderful time visiting with family and friends. Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Thank you Jen and Elias

silver belt

This silver belt from J.Crew brings back memories of my high school days. I had a belt just like this one, and I LOVED it (and still do!). I was really into belts then, and it was one of my favorites. I don’t have many belts anymore, but I did just buy this belt and really like it. It’s my Scott belt!!

THANK YOU, MOM!

Mom made Scott and I these awesome curtains for our living room and kitchen! She finished them today and brought them over. I am so excited to have them. They make our house feel even more like home! I love how they brighten up the room. She did an amazing job on them. Thank you, thank you, thank you Mom!

love them!

She also made these cute pillows. The fringe is too fun!!

A FANTASTIC 1st DAY!

Thursday, August 16th, 2007

I’ve had a great first 2 days with my students. They are all so sweet and cute. They have been very good and are little troopers with getting used to staying the whole day, unlike kindergarten. At the end of the day today we didn’t get to eat our cookies because of some bad choices made but besides that it has been a VERY SMOOTH 2 days! I hope this honeymoon period last FOREVER!!

When I got home from school yesterday these chairs had arrived in the mail. I was not expecting them until Friday and was extremely excited!! One of the chairs is from T&R as a house-warming gift. THAT WAS SO GENEROUS AND SWEET OF THEM!!

My day continued to get better when Scott and I met Mom, Uncle Greg, Aunt Jeanne, Elias, Jen, Gabe and Sadie for ice cream. YUM! I love being with family. They are the best! Gabe told me my hair looked funny, which I thought was pretty cute! (It was in a spiky ponytail.) When Jen and Elias told Gabe it was time to go he said in the cutest voice, “but I don’t want to go.” He was such a good little guy and left without crying!

new chairs

yea!

Last day of summer

Wednesday, August 8th, 2007

I can’t believe it is my last day of summer! I had a fantastic first summer off as a teacher. I enjoyed all of my free time and will miss it, but I am excited to begin the new year. I think it will feel strange at first to not have my students from last year, but it will be wonderful to start all over with a new group of kids!

I have put together a list of some things I will miss about summer and will not be able to do at all or as much during the school year:

  1. spending Tuesdays with Scott

  2. walking outside ever morning

  3. scrapbooking

  4. staying up late watching shows with Scott

  5. eating breakfast with Papa and Grammy

  6. eating lunch with Lindsay and Sarah

  7. keeping the house super clean (I actually like this!)

  8. going on trips to visit family and having family visit us!

  9. hanging out with friends on random days of the week!

  10. learning to cook (Oh wait, I meant to do this but didn’t!)

  11. sleeping in ’til 8 or 9

What I am excited for is BECOMING AN AUNT, Kathy and Jim’s visit in November, T&R’s next visit, getting to know my new students, going to the T-Rex Restaurant with Scott, getting Starbucks or Nordstrom smoothies with mom on Monday nights, watching our TV shows with Mom and Dad on Thursdays, the holidays, snow days, The Angels and Airwaves new CD and concert, living so close to Erin and Kyle, church and young adult activities, watching movies with Jen, Elias & Nicole, our open house, Lindsay and Matthew’s wedding, Graham’s wedding, going to South Carolina and California and of course spending time with my AWESOME husband!

Celebrations & Goodbyes

Tuesday, August 7th, 2007

We celebrated Elena’s 1st birthday a little early yesterday at Fuddruckers. I can’t believe she’s almost ONE! They all seem to be growing up so fast…yet they’re still so little!

Aaron is leaving for London next Wednesday so we said goodbye to him.  Aaron, Heidi and the kids are starting a very exciting journey, and I’m so happy for them. What an adventure!!

Elena’s 1st birthday!

59th Wedding Anniversary

This morning Mom, Scott and I went for breakfast at Grammy and Papa’s house. Today is their 59th Wedding Anniversary!! WOW! It was fun to celebrate with them bye eating our breakfast on the porch. They are truly an amazing couple. They’ve touched many lives with their love, kindness, and faith in God. What an example for Scott and I!

Monday, August 6th, 2007

This past weekend I went with my mom, Aunt Jeanne, Grammy and Papa to meet baby Max! He’s two weeks old and adorable!! He was so sweet and such a good baby. Asheley and Brian and wonderful parents.  We stayed at Fred and Lu’s house. Graham, his fiancé Christie and her daughter Kiley also came for the weekend! It was so good to spend time with family. I had a great time and we all laughed a lot.
