I have made a list of some of my memories of Papa. I thought today was a good day to share them because it is his birthday. I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I liked thinking about them and making the list.
My Memories: -Snuggling in bed w/ Papa and Grammy and playing eye spy -Christmas Mornings: One Christmas morning we all shared a Christmas story. Papa shared a story about when he was a little boy and Papa had to shoot his dog because his dog had killed another animal and had the taste of blood in his mouth. -Playing Hand and Foot- When I was little I couldn’t hold my cards in my hand so I laid them on the table and covered them with a newspaper. Papa would always check to see how many cards I had. -Playing thump and The Mexican Train Game -Sitting on the porch last summer with Papa and Grammy and listening to their stories of when my mom was younger. I really enjoyed that! -Papa built Abby’s pen one summer for us! -Hearing stories of when Papa was a teacher and principal at the same time. He told me that he would put up wires in the school after hours to hang their clothes to dry. As I remember it was a one-room schoolhouse. I wish I could remember how many grades he taught and if he hung his clothes to dry often or if that was just one time. -Once when I was driving to Grammy and Papa’s house I got so lost that Papa finally had to meet me at a McDonald’s right off the freeway. -Watching Papa catch Grammy’s eye and then make a circling motion with his finger around his watch. He would then point to the door. That meant it was time to go! -Papa put in an extra light in Scott’s and my basement so we didn’t have to walk into a dark basement. He also changed the locks when our house was new.
